"Headwaters cuts ribbon for new residential mental health treatment center for teens"
Headwaters Behavioral Health (HBH) opened its doors to the eastern Idaho community last Thursday as Idaho Falls' newest residential mental health treatment center for youth.
Over 60 medical professionals and local leaders celebrated the official ribbon cutting and facility tour open to the community in January 2026. Dr. Bruce Figuered, president and CEO of Jackson House and its sister companies, accompanied by Lex Fanopoulous, HBH program director and chief administrator, introduced the cutting-edge treatment methods and high-quality psychiatric care the new facility can provide.
"We're going to be using science: evidence based approaches that have been studied and researched," Fanapoulous commented. "We're going to teach kids how to get connected inside of their body so that they know they can learn to understand why it responds the way it does."
Up to 40 adolescents ages 12 to 17 now have access to local mental health treatment options without having to leave Idaho.
"And when you talk about adolescents who are in need of mental health services, having family involvement, having family close, is a critical part of the recovery process," Dr. Figuered said. "Because if the, you know, if there's stress within the family unit or stress at home, a lot of times that is the precipitant to the mental health crisis."
